Two of the most requested surface languages answer different questions. A marble look brings movement and a sense of occasion; a concrete look offers calm and continuity. Choosing between them is usually a decision about where you want a room to be interesting.
A veined surface is at its best when it has space to be read. Large uninterrupted floors, feature walls and bathroom surrounds all give veining the room it needs. In smaller spaces, or where joinery and furniture are already doing the work, the same surface can feel busy.
A concrete look behaves in the opposite way. It holds an even tone across a large area, absorbs the visual noise of a working interior and lets colour and texture come from what is placed on it. It is often the easier choice for open-plan interiors and commercial spaces.
Many schemes use both. A quiet concrete-look floor and a single veined feature will usually feel more composed than a scheme where every surface competes for attention.
